YMCA Adventure Guides

What it is

YMCA Adventure Guides is a long-running national YMCA program built around one idea: kids grow up faster than we'd like, so carve out dedicated time for a parent and child to be outdoors together. Local groups are organized into “nations,” “expeditions,” and “circles” — Broken Arrow is our expedition, and Mighty Creek is our circle within it.

How it runs

• Small circles of families that meet regularly throughout the school year
• Campouts and larger expedition events that bring multiple circles together
• Dad-and-son (and increasingly, parent-and-child) leadership, with rotating hosts
• Traditions — chants, ceremonies, and shared history — that build identity over time
