Our circle
Mighty Creek is a father–child circle within the Broken Arrow Expedition of YMCA Adventure Guides. Like the winding creek in our crest, we're less interested in the straight line than in the whole journey — circle meetings that turn into friendships, campouts that turn into stories that get told for years.
Location
Mighty Creek is based in Southern Orange County, California, drawing families from across the area — including, but not limited to:
- Ladera Ranch
- Rancho Santa Margarita
- Aliso Viejo
- Mission Viejo
Circle meetings, campouts and expeditions typically take place at local parks, lakes and beaches around South Orange County, so most families find it an easy drive no matter which of these communities they call home.
What we do
- Monthly circle meetings hosted by rotating dads
- Seasonal campouts and expeditions with the wider Broken Arrow group
- Traditions passed down — chants, skits, and a few running jokes only the circle understands
- A graduation send-off for sons moving on to become Islanders
Skills matter too — circle meetings regularly cover the basics dads want their sons to actually know, from beach safety to first aid, taught hands-on instead of out of a book.
